Wedding, Wedding, Wedding

You might be wondering where I've been and what I've been doing lately, since I've been absent on the blog-front for weeks...

Planning for the wedding. Deciding on marriage-related things. Answering the questions surrounding the nuptuals "How much longer? Are you getting excited? What's your theme?" Honestly, it's all anybody wants to talk to me about! I'm still a real human with other interests, although those are no longer acceptable topics of conversation, I suppose. We can hardly wait for next year month when everyone switches gears and begins pressuring us to have kids!

Even Bagheera gives me a guilt trip when I take a break from planning.

While I've been slacking on cooking in general (and subsuquently photographing and blogging about my culinary creations) I've been participating in fun new activities like shopping for men's clothing which is shockingly complicated and costly! Who knew you never bottom the lower button on a suit coat or that ties, simple pieces of cloth used to drape but not suffocate the neck, cost nearly $100 each? Oh well, everyone is going to look GREAT!

We've nailed down a location and menu for our rehearsal dinner! It's a really fun and adorable spot. Some tasks are more fun than others. [Here's the part where I admit that I didn't take this photo, but stole it from Yelp.]

We cake tasted!

My favorite is red velvet with cream cheese frosting, duh.

Bryce is a chocolate fanatic.

Although the cake was scumptious and lovely, the customer service and absurd upcharging at bakery #1 was not.

So, we tried again. First World Problems.

We're much happier with this baker, the ease of the meeting and process, and cake flavors! Having 3 cake/filling options that we selected in advance was much less overwhelming than trying so many flavors that were pre-matched with frostings and all have the option of being mixed-and-matched.

Without giving too many details away for those of you who will actually be enjoying our cake in real life, we've selected all 3 of the above combinations! The cake will have 3 layers and each it's own flavor.

Would anyone care to guess what they are?

What flavor was your wedding cake?

So, that's where I've been and what I've been doing while neglecting this here blog! Cheers to weddings, and cake, too.

  1. Oh, I remember exactly what you're describing! As much fun as the planning (and the marrying) was, Matt and I both said that we really looked forward to things going back to normal -- a new normal -- of living our everyday lives as husband and wife. It's refreshing to hear another bride say it :) Now, as far as those cakes go, I'm guessing red velvet, dark chocolate, and traditional yellow. Frostings look like cream cheese, mocha perhaps, and chocolate. You'll have to email me and let me know!

  2. Katy - right?! It's all exciting and (surely, hopefully, BETTER BE) rewarding, although it's all day, everyday, every conversation.

Red velvet + cream cheese is correct!
Chocolate Kahlua + peanut butter - yum!
Almond cake + chocolate - a secretly incredible combo.

I'm ready for dancin', marryin', and cake eatin'.
