Love and Lobster Tails

Did everyone survive Valentine's Day? It will go down in history forever as our first married Valentine's Day - the one where Bryce got a parking ticket while bringing me flowers at work! I fought hard and successfully resisted the urge to upload a bouquet pic to social media.

Sure, it's a made up holiday and pretty annoying overall, but it often makes us treat our loved ones a little nicer for a day and gives us great excuse to have a fancy meal. As usual, Bryce and I opted to celebrate at home. Surf and turf seems to be our Valetine's Day go-to dinner. This year we upgraded to lobster tail! I'm so pleased with how they turned out, as it was my first time making them.

B[LT] My Valentine and Italian Cream Cake

Happy Valentine's Day!

This year's day-o-love was anything but typical for Bryce and I (especially compared to last year's at-home FEAST and clever and athletic dessert).

First, we decided not to buy gifts. I owe him a 20 minute back massage and he agreed to see a chick-flick with me, The Vow! Good deal.

Second, we could only be together for lunch! Rather than make a full dinner-type meal, I made one of his favorite lunches: a BLT sandwich on sourdough bread.

Cupid's Holiday Feast

Either you love Valentine's Day or you HATE it, there is no in-between.  I love Valentine's Day!  Believe it or not, we didn't eat chocolate covered strawberries for dinner this year.  We had a grand feast!

Once we decided to have dinner at home, my first suggestion was crab legs and Bryce's was steak.  Totally typical of us - I want something indulgent, expensive, and a tad over the top and he wants MEAT, so we had both!  We didn't use any recipes, although I did manage to burn my arm on our oven!  Honestly, who designs a house with the oven in the corner of the room backed up against another appliance?  I have to open the oven and stand next to the open door to remove the food...

I made the crab legs in the oven with garlic-rosemary butter.  Bryce used one of our favorite rubs from Williams Sonoma on the steaks and grilled them on the stove.  We also had champagne, asparagus, and white cheddar mashed potatoes!

Our table was decorated quite nicely.

The Red Ripe Strawberries and the BIG HUNGRY BOYFRIEND

Once upon a time, in the wonderful land of online shopping, I came across these adorable sports themed chocolate covered strawberries.

I knew my Prince (aka Bryce) would love these.  Sports and chocolate all in one, it was perfect for his royal dessert!  6 berries would cost $25 plus shipping to Hawaii, that's more than a new pair of glass slippers!  This princess knew she could make them herself, when the right time came along.
